Philosophy of Counseling

My counseling philosophy centers on a person-centered approach, believing that clients thrive when they feel genuinely heard, respected, and empowered. I combine evidence-based tools like CBT with the creativity and expressiveness of art and play therapy to meet each client where they are and support their unique way of processing emotions and experiences. By blending structure with flexibility, I aim to create a warm, encouraging space where children, teens, and mothers can explore their feelings, build practical coping skills, and move toward growth with confidence and authenticity.

Clinical Skills & Theory Development

I integrate a blend of clinical skills and therapeutic theories to create individualized, effective care for each client. Drawing from CBT, I help clients identify patterns, build coping tools, and develop practical strategies for daily challenges, while art and play therapy allow for creative, developmentally appropriate expression. Grounded in a person-centered foundation, I prioritize empathy, collaboration, and each client’s unique strengths as the core of the work. By combining structured interventions with creative, relationship-based approaches, I’m able to support emotional regulation, resilience, and meaningful growth across a wide range of needs.

Research & Scholarly Activity

I maintain a strong commitment to scholarly growth by actively engaging in ongoing learning, research-informed practice, and professional development. I participate in weekly on-site and school supervision, using these spaces to deepen my clinical skills, reflect on my work, and integrate evidence-based approaches with confidence and care. This continual learning process strengthens my ability to provide high-quality, ethical, and effective support to the children, teens, and families I serve.
